Needless to say, this episode is loaded with our Comic-con experience! BTW, trying to filter the white noise out of some of the panels took a little more time than anticipated, but the sound is decent if the panels we recorded are listened to via speakers as opposed to headphones. No matter how I tried, there we times listening those panels where some of the sounds wreaked havoc on my ears.
Much thanks to the listeners during our time there, the people we met, and San Diego for just being so dope. It was a great time and I hope that more of us can do it again next year. Set your calendars for Comic-Con 2009, gang! ^_^

Thanks to Areku for the Runtimes!
As it has been becoming a regular instance, this episode is inexcusably late. Or early, depending on how you look at it. As much as I wish I could joke about this, keeping you cats waiting damn near a whole month for what should be a bi-weekly podcast, is making the three of us that host it look terrible, when it is solely one person’s fault.
But before I go on, I’m sure most of you are confused about why this one is episode 15 as opposed to 14, as natural progression would have it. That’s a long sad story, but one I’ll try to no to languish on for too long.
Already running behind schedule, episode 14 was pretty much finished on last Friday (ironically the 13th). All I needed to do was output the parts that comprise the ep and then compress it to MP3. Since I was running out of HD space on the main laptop we use to record the show, I decided to transfer the folder with all the files I had edited from that laptop to the other one. The Zeta segment that was part of the original ep. 14 that we recorded so long ago was edited and on the other laptop already, and since it had plenty of space on it, I’d chose to move everything else there to finish the job.
My biggest mistake in judgement was that I chose to “Cut & Paste” instead of Copy the folder. The files are huge before they’re compressed into the final product, so it was going to take a few minutes before the transfer completed.
Halfway through the power went out, turning off my router. It wasn’t off long, but the damage was done. Since I was too stupid to actually copy the folder instead of cutting & pasting, the files within the folder were completely trashed. There was an “image” on the destination laptop of what I was transferring, but no matter how many attempts I tried to salvage them, I failed outright.
By the time Sunday rolled around, I was pretty freaked, and decided to fill the void by putting out Ep. 15 instead, combining the Gundamn Roundups for Zeta & Double Zeta into the same episode with the Geass R2 segment inbetween. It doesn’t make up for the grave mistake I made losing the 00 Halftime Report (again) & the Iron Man review (which was a blast to do), but everyone was wayyyy overdue for something, and I had to make due with what I had left.
What I described above serves as an well-deserved explaination for everyone as to what happened. However, I don’t like to make excuses for my mistakes, and screwing the pooch to this degree is something I can’t even forgive myself for, let alone ask you guys too. The hasty shortcut I did resulted in killing ep. 14, and for something that could have been so avoidable, I’m ashamed to have done it to the begin with.
All I can ask is that anyone has been annoyed by the delay, please don’t take it out on Neo or Chris. This is far from their fault, and they shouldn’t have to take the heat for something I’ve done. Matter of fact, Chris has been just as concerned about the holdup and Neo has rightfully peeved about the mistake and the slow releases as of late and I can’t blame him at all.
If I’ve learned anything from life, is to take responsibility for one’s actions, and this blunder falls directly on my shoulders. I screwed up and although you guys are listening to the new ep, I can’t help but be reminded of how good 14 was before I lost it.
In retrospect, I think the core of the problem is that I take an extremely long time to produce these eps, and in order to combat this, there is something I should have done a long time ago in order to get them out far more promptly.

After taking so long and with everything that’s happened this month (especially the technical difficulties with Ep. 13) I’m just glad that I’ve lived this long to finish this episode. My deepest apologies for the delay, and I’m already cranking out the next one as we speak.

#012 - They Were Elevens
Friday Apr 18, 2008
Friday Apr 18, 2008
It only took forever, but at last here’s the long awaited episode 12!!! In this, the most epic edition of Gundamn! @ MAHQ yet we discuss Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion at length as well as explore the directors of other series in the Gundam franchise. `
Topics Featured in this Episode:
- The Rebellion Will Be Televised!: Overview of Code Geass Season 1.
- The Second Round: Predictions for Season 2 of Code Geass and thoughts about Season 1’s upcoming debut on Adult Swim!
- The Substitutes: Discussion about the directors of other Gundam series outside of Yoshiyuki Tomino, plus draft picks for future projects!
(Technical Note: In lieu of the episode length, the sound bitrate has been lowered from the usual 128 kbps MP3 to 80 kbps sound quality to keep the file size under 100 Megs. The only time this will be done is if the episodes run over 100 minutes, otherwise otherwise the file sizes for showkillers will only become more ridiculous.)
Usually, I write a novel here, but this podcast is long overdue and I’m wiped. So without further ado, here it is!
BTW, I not only ask forgive you guys forgiveness for the delay on finishing this, but also the upcoming Ep. 13 which I’m jumping into putting together now. While we were recording it last Sunday, I screwed up with one of the levels on the mixer and didn’t notice it was off kilter until near the end of the show. When I played back the sessions later, I caught it and damn near cried.
That feedback you were hearing during the recording, Chris, was probably that. I only wish I had the damn sense to spot it earlier. It’s fixable though, as I just learned to isolate sounds in Audition today. Only problem is though there will be times that Neo & I will sound like ourselves and other time where we’ll sound like Decepticons.
Never again, Gundammit. When it comes to soundcheck, I’m as anal as toilet paper from here on out.
And here I said I wasn’t going to write a novel. ^_^

Tuesday Mar 25, 2008
(*wipes sweat from brow*) Finally!
Without further ado, Connoisseurs, Neophytes and Newtypes! The latest episode is finally here!
Topics Featured in this Episode:
- Funimation Panel @ MegaCon 2008: Q&A Session with Adam Sheehan
- Mobile Suit Gundam 00 – Month 5: Reviews of Episodes 17-21 (Extended Segment)
- The Main Event! Live Panel from MegaCon 2008 presented by Anime Sushi!!! (Extended Segment)
These eps just keep getting bigger and bigger, but given all the work that was put into this one, I’m amazed it wasn’t three hours. ^_^
Last but far from least, mad props go out to these folks, the coolest of cats that all helped make the live show possible (in alphabetical order):
- Andrew Fitta (“DJ Megaplay”): Our contact at Anime Sushi that took a chance on us and gave us panel time at one of the largest conventions in Orlando when it was our first time podcasting “live”, period. the opportunity and experience was invaluable.
- Stella O’Leary: Honestly, I don’t know how we could have done this without an engineer, and I’m so grateful we crossed paths at the right time, otherwise what was an awkward start could have been a full blown disaster. You’ve taught me so much and I hope we can do this again when the next live joint rolls around.
- Devon Maxwell (“Boiwondr”) – Dude, you were a fuuuusionnnn of Peter Parker and Montel Williams that day! For those who don’t know, Neo, the Boiwondr and I are a part of the first podcast Shinjuku Station ever produced, “Flip the Script!” The stand-up cat that he is, Devon came through for us again by not only filling in as a wireless mic handler but also taking many pics of the event at the same time. He, and another FTS regular, Shoji Ramuro, have a video game podcast in development, and when it drops, you’ll definitely hear about it on Gundamn!
- Dale & Tanya Rausch: Much props go to one of the founding fathers of MAHQ.net and his wife, who I got to meet at the same time I met Chris in person. Their help during the live show really came through when I realized far too late that we needed wireless mic handlers to cover the larger than expected audience our live show amassed. You have no idea how dope you two are. 🙂
- Quang & Debbie of “Florida Oriental Trading”: You’ll find their store at the corner of “Colonial Dr.” (S.R. 50) and “Mills Dr.” (S.R. 17-92) in Orlando, FL near downtown. Neo & I have been lucky enough to live in a town with several Anime merchandising stores, but FOT was the pioneering place for our (and many others) otaku needs! The couple that runs the store are beyond awesome and they came through for us by providing the top tier prizes for our panel (four $10 gift certificates), as well as equipment for future live performances. If your in the Orlando area, stop by FOT or if you plan on attending “JACON ’08” or “Anime Festival Orlando 9”, stop by their booth and tell them that “Gundamn! @ MAHQ” sent ya!
And everyone else:
- The Whole Anime Sushi Gang!
- Our Sponsors: NutsForAnimeFigures.com, Namco Bandai, Shonen Jump, Florida Oriental Trading
- All of the attendees of the panel, as well as the participants – Armando, Leif, Noelle, Robert, Kristina, Rebecca, Juan, Andrew M., Michael, Daniel Petersen, Rau, Hodimus “The Hod” Prime, Robert a.k.a “MBF-06/ZGMF-X12A Arbiter”
- My girlfriend, Jenn, for putting up with me during that crazy weekend.
- Our friends and family for coming out to support us: Edwin Ashley, Dr. Enclyclopedia Black & Lady J (hosts of the new Shinjuku Station joint, “The Weekly Cocktail”!), Shoji Ramuro, Rebecca Long, Trell & her son, and anyone I forgot
- And even the lady clerk at Kinko’s that was doing her job, but was cool nonetheless!
Infinite thanks go to you guys as well as the listeners and now that the edge is off on doing this for the first time, I cannot wait to do this again at “Yasumicon” (August 1-3, 2008) later on this year! BTW, next episode is our long-awaited review of Code Geass Season 1 in preparation of the new season as well as its premiere on Adult Swim at the end of April! Support the Rebellion and Stay Tuned!!!

#010 - The Battle Royale
Wednesday Mar 12, 2008
Wednesday Mar 12, 2008
The next episode of “Gundamn! @ MAHQ” is finally here! The long awaited episode where we discuss the “Super Robot Wars: Original Generation” series, lock, stock and barrel with MAHQ Staff Writer & Mechatalk.net regular, “Destiny_Gundam”, is now on deck for your listening pleasure!
In addition, we “Jump the Gundam” and compare and contrast the our favorite mecha franchise with two other mega-properties of science fiction, Star Trek & Star Wars! As always, Ep. 10 comes to you in “Mixed” & “Straight-up, No Chaser” varieties.
Topics Featured in this Episode:
- Anime & Game Spotlight – Super Robot Wars: Original Generation: with guest-host Peter Laliberte (“Destiny_Gundam”), the gang delves into the original universe of Banpresto’s hits series! (Extended Segment).
- The Battle Royale! – How will the franchise of Mobile Suit Gundam fare when sized up against uber science fiction series Star Wars and Star Trek? (Extended Segment)
Although there’s only two segments this time, they are both extended, making this one of our longest episodes. Due to the length and wanting to get it out to everyone, there’s no frills this time, but don’t fret. The live episode is coming up next! BTW, when we recorded this, the live session was still in the future, and despite being over, I left mention of it in the episode. Serves me right for not getting it done sooner. Expect the duration between Ep. 10 and 11 to be a lot shorter than the lapse of time between Ep. 9 & 10. Especially since the live session is over and I can finally relax. (*Phew*)

Wednesday Feb 20, 2008
Wednesday Feb 20, 2008
Here it is! Blowing up your area!
Topics Featured in this Episode:
- Mobile Suit Gundam 00 – Month 4: Review of Episodes 13-16.
- What’s the Score? – favorite soundtracks, themes, and composers featured in the Gundam franchise.
- Heavy Metal Queens: A look at several mecha series with female leads.
As I said in the main feedback thread, I’m really sorry I’ve been a no show as of late, and that the replies have been lax, but this weekend will be the time, where I take the time to answer posts and letters that we’ve received here and at our main address. I gotta thank Chris and Neo for fielding a lot of them so far, and I’ll do better to pick up slack in weeks to come. I could give a million excuses, but I won’t give any. Truth be told, I just need to manage my time better. Doing this show is helping with that.
BTW, during the second break this episode features the track “Jumping Onto White Base” by the champion of Gundam mash-ups himself, Kajmaster Kajet. Check out the link below for the video, and hit him up for some feedback. That clip is bananas, especially towards the end! 😛

Sunday Feb 03, 2008
Sunday Feb 03, 2008
Connoisseurs, Neophytes, and Newtypes! The wait is over!
Topics Featured in this Episode:
- Mobile Suit Gundam SEED & How to Fix it!
- Anime Spotlight: Megazone 23.
- Super Tomino Wars II – The Non-Gundam Series!
We got a little carried away during the segments this episode, so this episode ran a whole lot longer than the average 80 or so minutes, totaling almost two hours! Thanks to the size, there’s no frills in this episode (commercials or musical interludes), otherwise it would be more of a monster episode than it already is. This won’t be the norm, as we learned that three broad topics in one episode isn’t the most practical move. ^_^
We manage to cut quite the rug though and here’s hoping that you enjoy the segments as much as we do recording them!
As always, thanks for listening!

#006 - Holidays of Steel, VOTOMS and Mecha-On-Film
Thursday Jan 03, 2008
Thursday Jan 03, 2008
First off, I just want give a huge thank you to all that supported and downloaded Gundamn! @ MAHQ in 2007. You’ve made our premiere year more fantastic than any of us expected.
Second, I want to apologize about the delay of this latest episode. I won’t make excuses, but the holiday literally hit me like a sack of bricks. Most of the little free time I had though I worked on the show and finally it’s here. I feel like a jerk-off for it taking so long, and because of it, one of the segments is now out of date. Or way too early for it’s own good, depending upon how you look at it.
Third, there’s a lot on the horizon for the show this year! Interviews, guests panelists, Anime Spotlights (much like in this episode), live calls during recordings, conventions and much more. Thanks for being on board with us and we hope to make 2008 Gundamn! @ MAHQ’s most exciting year yet!
As for the here & now, Episode 6 is on deck! In this episode, we discuss:
- Holidays of Steel: Gift Ideas for the Mecha Fan (Late as hell, I might add…)
- Anime Spotlight: VOTOMS
- Mecha-on-Film: Past, Present & Future Live-Action Adaptations
This episode was actually recorded on Dec. 16th, 2007. Then the holidays punked me, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Another episode of Gundamn is set to be recorded this weekend and up for download on Friday of next week. Now that I’m not moonlighting, I have time like I used to. In the meantime, I hope you guys enjoy the episode and stay tuned for another one next week. ^_^
Thanks a million & Happy New Year!

Then, in the second segment, they discuss their thoughts on Newtypes throughout the saga of Gundam, covering not only the original universe of Universal Century but also the Alternate Universes including the latest series, Gundam 00!
Last, but not least, the two reply to letters sent in by listeners and comment on the progress of the show since the podcast has united with MAHQ.net! As always, there’s Neo’s News, interludes, and all the other features that you’ve come to expect from the gang at Gundamn! @ MAHQ.

#004 - Makin' Waves & Gundam in Gaming
Tuesday Nov 20, 2007
Tuesday Nov 20, 2007
Wake your daughter up! Episode 004 has finally sortied!
Topics covered in this episode were:
- Makin’ Waves! – The Greatest Women in Gundam (Extended Segment)
- Welcome to the Adventure! – Gundam in Video Gaming, Vol. 001
Production Note: I apologize in advance about some of the slight skips in Chris’ audio. I realized what the problem was after receiving the audio track and it shouldn’t happen next time we record. -_-
We plan to revisit many topics discussed on this program, and input on previous discussions may make it on the show when topics rebound, or in related topics in future episodes!
Also, this episode features “BattleTime” (@ 1:22:25), a remix track featuring by none other than Tony Bacala – music producer whose well known for mixing music & sound-bites together, especially from Transformers. I wish I could claim that I made this, but I aspire to create mix tracks that are on this level someday. Consider it a bonus to all the listeners, especially those form the “Me” generation. ^_^
